East meets west when the dragons invade Lake Windermere , on the warmer side of the Rockies ! Located in beautiful British Columbia (about a 3 hour drive from Calgary), Lake Windermere is nestled in the Columbia Valley surrounded by the small towns of Invermere, Radium Hot Springs, Fairmont Hot Springs, Panorama Mountain Village and Windermere.
The Columbia Valley Dragon Boat Race & Festival will be held at Kinsmen Beach in Invermere on Friday, July 28 th, Saturday, July 29 th and Sunday, July 30 th, 2006 . Races begin at 9:00 am on Saturday and
Sunday. This year we look forward to welcoming over 35 teams and 3000 people to Kinsmen Beach . Most teams are drawn from local residents and paddlers from Alberta and British Columbia .
Throughout the weekend, participants and spectators will enjoy great music, traditional dance from the Ktunaxa Nation, children’s performers, storytelling, food, beverage, an Artisan Market and so much more!
With the support of the Alberta Dragon Boat Race Foundation, this event promises to be one of the best “new” dragon boat events in Western Canada . We hope that you will join us too for a weekend full of fun, friendly competition and camaraderie!
This year’s registration fees are as follows:
Early Bird Mixed Team Entry $800 (No GST) until May 1, 2006
Gender Specific Team Entry $800 (No GST) until May 1, 2006
Youth Team Entry $264 (No GST) until May 1, 2006
Mixed Team Entry $880 (No GST) May 2 – July 7, 2006
Gender Specific Team Entry $880 (No GST) May 2 – July 7, 2006
Youth Team Entry $330 (No GST) May 2 – July 7, 2006
